Welcome
Welcome to my reading journal, I will be posting my latest favourite books, articles, magazines etc. This is a journal for my Creative Writing AS Level course. It is very significant for you to read books and familiarise yourself with extensive vocabulary, a range of punctuation, get better at spelling and most importantly, be awe-inspired by your favourite authors, poets and journalists. Reading also helps you to speak coherently whether it be in terms of clear reading or socialising through dialogue; either way it's very useful.. Some of the greatest films have come from the greatest books. One of my creative writing teachers asked my class to write up a reading journal so that she could have an insight to what we like to read. I will post recommendations and what I think are worth reading. I will also post (if my teachers won't mind) little creative writing passages that I wrote myself on this blog. I haven't read a load of books yet, I have read a fair few but not a truck-load. I do enjoy reading books and my tastes vary a lot in terms of genre. Harry Potter is my all-time favourite book (the last one mostly) but I have caught myself reading a lot of romance novels such as Twilight (which I don't really like, vampires and werewolves and humans falling in love is not my thing, it's great we're doing Gothic literature then). But I do like other romantic novels like The Notebook, The Lucky One. I also like to read warfare based novels such as Saving Private Ryan and I'm going to start this journal with Private Peaceful. I am very interested in Literature and writing myself; I sometimes coerce myself to like classical English novels/plays such as Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens but seem to yawn after reading the first word of their book. Of course I like some books like Pride and Prejudice, Romeo & Juliet etc. I found myself liking Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird and The Crucible by Authur Miller after studying it for English Literature at GCSE. Of course, I despised it at the time but when I look back in hindsight, I enjoyed it and I really miss it ( kind of). I hope to become a writer having been inspired by JK Rowling mostly and my old English teacher I had for over 2 years. My mind is bursting with anticipating creativity and bewildering imagination. So let's go...
Of course I don't mind!
