The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner
For my AS English Literature course, my class are currently reading The Kite Runner. We all have to read it in our own time and I finished it in just a couple of days. I was sincerely captivated and once I'd started, I couldn't stop. It's a very interesting story but also very disturbing! I would recommend this book to you unless you're like twelve, then I wouldn't recommend it. My teacher would have wanted me to read something else for my creative writing reading journal but I can't read two books at once.

This book was written by Khaled Hosseini and was written in first person. The key themes in this book is: seeking redemption, love, tension, seeking praise, intersection of political events and private lives and the persistence of the past. One thing I would like to take from The Kite Runner into my own writing would be how Hosseini links texts from the beginning of the book and foreshadows it for the later events in the book.. I think that it's exceptionally intelligent and would love to do that for my own novel one day.
