The Beach

Finally, the moment had come, the very moment I had been waiting for; the only moment I wanted to savour into forever. Someone had ripped into my chest, pulled my heart out and had recklessly stained the delicate sand with the blood of my heart. They had regretted it too because now they turned around and saw what I saw, the epitome of beauty!

The fierce pierce of the sudden blueness had sliced radiantly into my eyes. I gazed up with gracious concentration as I absorbed the most stupefying colour of the world. It was like I was in heaven and hell! The heaven was the splendour of the view but the hell was the sweltering, scorching and intense heat. The vivid glow of the grinning sun was heart-warming; I thought (in that moment) that I had finally found home. How could I feel so at ease with this location? I was a tourist everywhere I went, however I had felt so welcome (unlike everywhere else I’ve been), at this beach or cloud of elation as I preferred to think of it. Subsequently, I noted the sculptured, grey and rocky cliffs were in perfect synchronisation as the water, the sand and the sky. Tiny crackling caves were noticeable in these stony cliffs; it was as if there was a small amount of people living side by side in them. It reminded me of a religious-like tribe, loving thy neighbour with all thy hearts. I might have just invented that kind of tribe but something about this place had reminded of religion.

Swoosh!

The soothing, sweet serenity of the lapping waves was music to my ears. The blue ribbon of water sparkled bright like a thousand diamonds! The loud silence overwhelmed every sense in my body, I could hear nothing but: the whisper of the water, the silky wind striking the palm leaves, the birds communicating above us, the monkeys chirping in the distant trees and the echo of freedom.

I was liberated from the horrific world I had endured from my past; I was home.

The fluorescent fragrance of my body odour distracted my nostrils from my euphoric moment. Yet the smell of the intoxicating air overpowered any stench of my body or the fish swimming happily in the sea. I loathed the smell of fish; it was that type of smell that would make you drop dead completely.

“Look over there!” someone yelped, pointing at the blue ribbon of water. I was captivated. Completely dumbfounded. Shell-shocked. There was over a dozen dolphins peeking out of the water; leaping with sassy style as if they were walking down a catwalk. They leapt out of the water so many times, I stopped counting. Unbelievable! Tears trickled down my cheeks and I tasted the bitterness of them on my lips. I could not have been more overwhelmed than in this moment.

My feet had sunk into the sand which was uncharacteristically searing but every grain kissed my feet tenderly. I strolled over to the water’s edge; my feet dug even deeper into the sand and surprisingly the temperature of the sand was scarcely different from before. The water’s delicate touch soaked up the sting of the sizzling heat. The wind gently tapped my cheeks though there was very little wind present. The penetrating heat insulted me with a burning smack to the face causing me to flush bright like a tomato.

Nevertheless, the awe-inspiring nature of this location was my undoing to concentrate on everything else in the manmade world. I wanted to seize the opportunity to breathe in the breathtaking world of God’s natural creation. Finally, the moment had come, the very moment I had been waiting for; the only moment I wanted to savour into forever...
