Poetry

For my second piece of Creative Writing coursework, I am contemplating whether to do poetry or a piece of prose non-fiction. I want to have a go at poetry but if I fail, I think I will end up doing non-fiction prose, a biography or something. I have 1500 words to go up to, so I might do a selection of sonnets. I want to try one as seen below:

Lily

The delicate aroma of the radiant flower.

The beauty within Lily's addicting power

of love with her smile, her eyes and her hair,

were gifted to drive a man crazy in despair. 

I cannot claim her as she is not mine;

I wish she would ask me if I'd like to dine.

We would converse endlessly about our love;

we would kiss by the sunset like white doves.

I was too unattractive to meet her fairness

I would declare my love while she'd be careless

I would bow down, beg and kiss her feet,

for a chance to kiss her strikingly sweet

lips that she splendidly holds on her face

with her enticing flaws left without a trace.
